Gunter Weyrich, AKH, BDA
Principal
For over 15 years, Gunter Weyrich has been an integral part of 1100 Architect and has played a significant role in shaping the Frankfurt office. As Managing Director, he brings strategic foresight, a strong architectural stance, and many years of experience to the firm’s development. His focus lies in the execution of complex building projects, which he oversees with professional precision and design clarity.
After studying architecture at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern and the University of Edinburgh, he gained diverse professional experience in planning and construction management. He now looks back on nearly three decades of practice. Numerous projects have been completed under his leadership, including the stadium for SV Darmstadt 98, the “East Side Lofts” residential complex with nearly 100 units in part-preserved historic structures, and the transformation of a Gründerzeit-era city villa into a modern office building. He also led the historically appropriate renovation of the “Böllenfalltorhalle” — a historic venue for sports and cultural events — a project he supported with particular dedication.
Gunter Weyrich places great importance on close coordination with clients, users, and planning partners. For him, architecture begins with a clear understanding of the project goals. Based on that foundation, he develops robust solutions that combine design quality with technical precision. At the heart of his approach is the careful collaboration of all parties involved. With his extensive experience in managing large-scale, complex projects, he brings strategic expertise, negotiation skills, and a keen sensitivity to political, historic preservation, and building code frameworks. Through his consistent project acquisition and initiation efforts, he actively shapes the structural development of the firm.
Since 2001, Gunter has been a member of the Chamber of Architects of Hesse and, ten years ago, was appointed to the Association of German Architects (BDA).
