Germantown Academy Tinker Lab & Science Classrooms
As part of ongoing work with Germantown Academy of Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, 1100 Architect created a new maker space geared specifically toward younger students. The “Tinker Lab,” as it is now known, is equipped with a laser cutter and 3D printer and creates a connection to the outdoor garden through the use of a roll-up door. This learning environment promotes critical thinking and problem solving through the hands-on activities of a makerspace and gardening. In addition to this intervention, 1100 Architect also updated the Lower School’s entrance and parent gathering space, science classrooms, and corridors to create a singular, cohesive learning environment for the school’s youngest students.
