Germantown Academy Library
1100 Architect designed a flexible lower school library and learning commons for Germantown Academy, a private PreK–12 school in Pennsylvania. The space blends traditional library functions—such as book collections, research areas, and reading nooks—with contemporary programming to support collaborative and creative learning. A dedicated media studio enables students to engage in podcasting, video production, and other multimedia projects. Open, adaptable areas accommodate group learning, storytelling, and performance-based activities. Movable seating and shelving allow the space to be easily reconfigured for a variety of educational formats. The design process incorporated both student, faculty and school leadership participation, creating a space that fosters exploration, creativity, and community within a cohesive, student-centered environment.
