Groundbreaking for Einhausen’s New Community Center
With the groundbreaking for the new Sport and Cultural Center, the town of Einhausen has launched a key civic infrastructure project. Designed to serve as a contemporary gathering place, the new building will provide space for athletics, cultural programming, and neighborhood connection.
The new structure, made possible in part by €3.3 million in funding from the federal-state “Urban Redevelopment in Hesse” program, represents a long-awaited investment in the town’s social and physical fabric. Total project costs are estimated at €7.5 million.
In remarks at the groundbreaking ceremony, Gunter Weyrich, managing director of 1100 Architect Frankfurt, emphasized the importance of local dialogue:
“From the outset, we encountered a deeply engaged community. Through many conversations, we came to understand what residents envisioned for their new civic center. Our aim is to deliver a vibrant, efficient, and sustainable public space that reflects those ambitions.”
The design prioritizes clarity and flexibility: a barrier-free layout supports a variety of uses, while spatial zoning enables both intimate and collective experiences. Environmental strategies including a photovoltaic system on a planted roof, rainwater harvesting, and advanced mechanical systems contribute to the building’s ecological performance.
Sited within a residential neighborhood, the new center responds to the local scale while articulating a forward-looking architectural identity. The structural shell is expected to be complete by early 2025, with full occupancy planned for 2026. Once opened, the facility will offer a vital new anchor for community life in Einhausen.
