Darmstadt’s Böllenfalltorhalle Receives Special Mention at Architizer A+ Awards

The Böllenfalltorhalle in Darmstadt has received a Special Mention in the “Gyms and Recreation Centers” category of the international Architizer A+Awards, selected from more than 70 submissions worldwide.

Originally built in 1964, the heritage-listed sports hall underwent a comprehensive renovation between 2019 and 2021 under the direction of our office. The design sought to preserve the building’s architectural identity while updating lighting, ventilation, and fire safety systems to meet contemporary standards.

The A+Awards recognize projects that demonstrate excellence in both design and civic impact. We’re honored that the Böllenfalltorhalle has been included in this year’s selection offering international visibility to a piece of Darmstadt’s architectural heritage.
