Architecture for little world explorers: Architectural Record reports on our daycare center in Niddatal
Our recently completed daycare center “Kleine Weltentdecker” (Little World Explorers) in Niddatal has been featured by the U.S. architecture magazine Architectural Record. Under the title “Outside of Frankfurt, a Childcare Center by 1100 Architect Emphasizes Self-Discovery,” author David Sokol describes how architecture, landscape design, and pedagogy come together in the new facility.
The article highlights the single-story, U-shaped building; the close relationship between the interior spaces and the surrounding orchard meadow; and the role of light, natural materials, and the enclosed garden in shaping how children play and learn. The daycare is described as a place that encourages self-discovery, movement, and a sense of security—where architecture itself is an active part of the educational concept.
We are delighted to see “Kleine Weltentdecker” recognized as an example of educational architecture that brings together urban responsibility, sustainable construction, and an open pedagogical approach.
