SARA NY 2026 Design Award: House on Sag Harbor

06/23/2026 Sag Harbor, NY

We’re honored to share that House on Sag Harbor has received an Award of Excellence from the 2026 SARA NY Council Design Awards.

Set on a wooded rise along Sag Harbor’s western shore, the 9,500-square-foot residence reinterprets the barn archetype through a continuous timber rainscreen that unifies roof and walls into a single form. The project is guided by a straightforward idea: to work with the land rather than reshape it. Careful siting preserves an existing shoreline cottage, maintains view corridors across the property, and positions the house well beyond minimum setbacks to reduce flood risk and support the long-term health of the tidal habitat. Native planting, stormwater management infrastructure, and thermally modified FSC-certified cladding reflect a commitment to environmental stewardship that runs through every layer of the design.

Thank you to the Society of American Registered Architects for this recognition.
