Brooklyn Friends School Library & Makerspace

At Brooklyn Friends School, 1100 Architect reimagined a series of smaller rooms as an open, adaptable library and makerspace. The design accommodates Lower and Middle School students in separate zones, which can be merged via sliding partitions. Flexible furniture supports a range of activities, from quiet study to collaborative learning. A dedicated makerspace to be shared by both schools includes tools like 3D printers and workstations for hands-on exploration. Natural light and clear sightlines promote comfort and engagement. This project builds on a longstanding partnership with Brooklyn Friends that includes a lobby and cafeteria, a series of renovations, and a Family Center.
