SCENTRAL Drug Councelling Center

The new SCENTRAL facility provides expanded services for Darmstadt’s drug counseling center, operated by the Diakonisches Werk. Designed by 1100 Architect, the building replaces outdated structures on Bismarckstraße and introduces a modern presence adjacent to Herrngarten park. The center includes counseling spaces, a café, offices, and a separate outpatient clinic for substitution therapy. Three gabled volumes form a distinct silhouette that completes the urban block and establishes a visual connection with the green surroundings. Sustainable features include a green roof, photovoltaic panels, and a landscaped courtyard that replaces former asphalt surfaces. These interventions improve environmental performance and contribute to local biodiversity. The building serves as both a care facility and a dignified civic landmark.
