Convent of the Sacred Heart Library

1100 Architect refurbished the library at Convent of the Sacred Heart, an all-girls K-12 school on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Located in an early 20th century landmarked building, the project integrates modern design elements while maintaining the library’s historic character.

The design creates a welcoming environment through use of color, texture, and pattern. Modular furniture allows for large and small group settings, and naturally lit study nooks provide space for individual learning. This refurbishment is part of an ongoing relationship between 1100 Architect and Convent of the Sacred Heart, where we are in the process of designing a new STEAM facility and maker-space.
