Blum Helman Gallery

The first large-scale art exhibition space to open in SoHo, this 4,000-square-foot gallery was designed to accommodate both small-scale works and heavy, large-format sculptures. The design maintained elements from the original interior—like its tin ceiling and cast-iron columns—while introducing a new reinforced-steel structural system and poured concrete floor that support the significant load requirements of large-format sculpture. Wooden floors in the lobby lend warmth to the design, and a new skylight allows natural light to enter the deepest area of the plan.
