Brownsville Recreation Center

For the Brownsville Recreation Center, a NYC Parks facility in Brooklyn, we designed a comprehensive renovation that will transform the outdated facility into a welcoming and contemporary community anchor. To improve the center’s connection with its surroundings, the design adds two landscaped plazas at the entrance and fully restores the building’s deteriorating facade. The renovation also enhances programming, providing multi-purpose classrooms, a renovated pool and gymnasium, and a new space for after-school programs, turning the previously underused facility into a versatile community anchor. 1100 Architect is reconfiguring the interior layout to make the space more efficient, increasing transparency to improve visual connectivity and maximize natural light.
