1100 Architect Announces Passing Of Susanne Milne
With profound sadness, 1100 Architect announces the passing of Susanne Milne, MAA. A gifted architect and insightful mentor, Susanne was an integral member of our leadership team, serving as Principal since 2015.
On Monday, November 23, 2020, Susanne lost a battle with melanoma—a battle she had fearlessly fought for over 10 years.
Susanne led design and delivery for many of 1100’s most high-profile projects, including Main: East Side Lofts, the House in Wellesley, and a roster of commercial workspaces around the world. She joined the firm in 2010 and quickly established herself as a studio leader.
Prior to joining 1100, she worked with Studio Libeskind and NBBJ. A proud Scandinavian, Susanne received her Master of Architecture from the School of Architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of the Fine Arts in 1999.
Each day, we witnessed her fierce commitment to excellence in her work and to the architectural profession, even as we also knew Susanne as a close, personal friend. We—David Piscuskas, FAIA, LEED AP, Juergen Riehm, FAIA, BDA, and everyone in our New York and Frankfurt studios—deeply mourn her loss.
