Architectural Digest: Perry World House One of Nine Best New University Buildings Around the World

In its survey of new higher-education buildings, Architectural Digest names Perry World House one of the nine best new university buildings around the world. As the article’s headline puts it, “some of the world’s most famous architects—Robert A.M. Stern, David Piscuskas, Thom Mayne, among them—went back to the books to marry design and academia.” At the University of Pennsylvania, the 1100 Architect-designed Perry World House was the outcome of such a marriage, becoming the university’s hub for international affairs—and a campus landmark. As writer Lacy Morris says, “the limestone building plays off the Gothic Revival style of the existing house and adds newer, sleeker elements like a glass-enclosed atrium.”
