Project Description

Calvert Vaux Park Facility

Brooklyn, NY

In Progress

LEED Silver Certification Target

In Brooklyn’s Calvert Vaux Park, 1100 Architect designed this structure to serve as a public comfort station and a district headquarters for the client, the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation. The building includes offices, a maintenance shop, and equipment storage space that services nearby gardens, sports fields, and playgrounds. The design also includes improved signage, additional lighting, and new landscaped pedestrian pathways, enhancing connectivity and creating an inviting visitor experience. As public safety and protection from vandalism were central considerations in the design, it features a graffiti-resistant façade, clear sightlines that facilitate efficient supervision, and carefully considered building openings that allow the structure to be easily secured when not in use.
