1100 Architect celebrated the grand opening of a new kindergarten in Frankfurt, Germany. The ceremony included remarks from Frankfurt mayor Peter Feldmann, 1100 Architect associate principal Thomas Voss, and client Christian Platen, who praised 1100 Architect for delivering the project “ahead of schedule and under budget.” The design creates a partially enclosed courtyard that serves as a quiet play area and outdoor classroom. The building, which was designed to Passive House standards, features sustainability measures like a green roof and a high-performance insulated façade, resulting in energy reductions of 70% beyond what the already-ambitious code requires.
