Princeton University McCosh 50

For Princeton University, 1100 Architect designed this comprehensive renovation of McCosh 50, a 450-seat auditorium in an historically significant building. The largest auditorium on the university’s campus, McCosh 50 was beset by acoustic, mechanical, and audio-visual challenges.

Our design preserves the 110-year-old space while optimizing its performance to 21st century standards, discreetly integrating acoustic treatments, lighting, and updated systems. The historic seating was uncomfortable and cramped, so part of our work entailed designing new chairs that matched the style of the existing seating while incorporating ergonomic upholstered cushions for comfort.
