Germantown Academy Library

1100 created a library and learning commons that nurtures students’ love for reading, inspires their creativity, and encourages collaboration and innovation.

Commissioned by Germantown Academy, a private PreK-12 school in Pennsylvania, the resulting space combines traditional library features such as book collections and areas for browsing, studying and research, along with newer approaches to the library program.

A dedicated media studio allows students to participate in creative multimedia projects, like podcasting and video recording. Open space supports interactive activities such as group learning, story time and performance. 1100 incorporated movable seating and bookshelves to allow students and faculty to reconfigure the space for group gatherings.
